Poem
Here is a poem I wrote a few years ago. It won an International Poetry Association Award. You can view it on poetry.com as well. It was inspired from movies and stories about the Vietnam War:
War
Dying, screaming in despair
People bleeding, I don't care
Death surrounds me, living hell
Am I dead too, I cannnot tell
Murder, violence, chaos, fear
Tortured cries are all I hear
The more they die the more I see
The only one I trust is me
Rotting corpses, blood and gore
Nothing else exists but war
How long will this horror spread
Till all are broken, maimed and dead
Eyes burned out, skin peeled away
Earth grows sicker every day
This carnage sears into my brain
I feel myself going insane
